In Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance the narrator briefly describes a person. He describes them as, “A person…who was creatively on fire with a set of ideas no one had heard of before.” While in today’s education many people just swallow information and regurgitate it there are still people out there thinking for themselves and coming up with new ideas.
While many people these days just take in information and formulate their ideas based on someone else’s there are people who think outside the box. Often these people are looked at as rebels or thought of as weird. They do not believe in just going with the flow and have broken away from society’s belief of normal. Not everyone in society is going to be the same. There are always going to be people who are different. If there were not these people who had “ideas no one had heard of before” then there would be not advancements in technology or any other part of society. These people who are on fire with creative ideas change our world.
While in school many of these people are looked at as “nerds” or “losers” because they are not like everyone else. However these people who are different, and filled with these ideas, are some of the most successful people. A famous quote from Bill Gates is, “Be nice to nerds. Chances are you’ll end up working for one.” Society treats these people as outcasts growing up and even when they’re older. However they deserve equal treatment. Just because they have fresh and new ideas does not mean they are weird.
People with fresh new ideas are still in society today. Even though our standardized education is believed to limit this it does not. If someone is on fire with creative ideas that is just how they are. Creativity is not taught. However society often views these people as weird and makes them feel like outcasts. Society needs to be careful with how they treat people, though, because they do not know whom this person will turn into.
